Michal Nachmany’s career has been dedicated to building robust data and tools for a wide range of stakeholders, including parliamentarians, civil servants, researchers, investors, and activists. As the founder of Climate Policy Radar, Nachmany leads a mission to organize, analyze, and democratize the world’s climate law and policy data, helping to drive the transition to a low-carbon, resilient and just world. This entity builds open databases and research tools so people can discover, understand and generate data-driven insights on public laws and policies.

Expertise and leadership

Nachmany’s expertise was honed over a decade at the London School of Economics’ Grantham Research Institute, where she led efforts to develop evidence-based decision-making tools for national legislation and policy and low-carbon and responsible investment, collaborating with parliaments and governments globally, the UN, and responsible investor coalitions such as CA100+. She advises the UN-led Initiative on Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) and is a Fellow of the UNFCCC Resilience Frontiers.

Commitment to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Climate Policy Radar’s work is crucial in advancing global efforts to understand and enhance the effectiveness of climate laws, policies, and litigation (SDG 13: Climate Action). By transforming complex documents into accessible, searchable information, the organization helps governments, researchers, international organizations, civil society, and the private sector to develop and implement effective climate policies and deploy climate finance. This approach supports better policymaking, tracks collective action towards global challenges, and integrates policy risk analysis into financial decisions, ensuring alignment with global goals.

Furthermore, a core principle of Climate Policy Radar is its commitment to equality and justice, ensuring the needs and voices of those most impacted by the climate crisis are well-represented. The organization’s tools and datasets are designed to correct and preempt biases, providing free and open access to climate data to reduce information asymmetries and support accountability (SDG 10: Reduced Inequality). The commitment extends to breaking down language barriers and ensuring global data coverage, especially in underrepresented regions.

Climate Policy Radar is also a model of inclusive workplace practices, with policies that support mental health, flexible working hours, and a commitment to diversity and equal opportunity (SDG 5: Gender Equality). This inclusive approach not only fosters a healthy work environment but also reflects the organization's broader mission to address global inequalities and promote climate justice.

I believe that good decisions are rarely only supported by good, robust data - but also by our ability to weave trustworthy narratives and foster relationships that help put that data to good use.
