Jennifer McGowan, Research Professor, Center for Biodiversity Outcomes in the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory, is a contributor on Monitoring, Measuring, and Tracking Progress Towards Nature Positive for the Ocean, a new publication in World Wildlife Fund.
A brief summary follows:
This new report on best practices for monitoring nature positive ocean pathways provides guidance to the blue economy sectors on how to track their Nature Positive actions. Healthy oceans matter for all life on earth, and a collective effort to support and sustain them is imperative to a healthy planet. This report ensures companies are taking actions to avoid or reduce negative biodiversity impacts as well as moving the blue economy sectors in the right direction as a whole.
Says McGowan: Taking actions with positive ocean biodiversity impacts, and properly tracking and reporting on those actions, supports a healthy ocean and healthy economy.
