Solís named American Association of Geographers Fellow

Patricia Solís, Executive Director, Knowledge Exchange for Resilience in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been recognized as 2026 Fellow by American Association of Geographers. Solis was recognized on February 16, 2026.

Solís was selected in the "later career" category, recognizing 24 years of contributions to the field of geography and the association throughout her career. The AAG Fellow distinction is considered one of the association’s highest disciplinary accolades and is recognized by universities as a benchmark of faculty excellence. Solís joins 10 other faculty members from the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning who have previously been honored with AAG awards and recognition.

“I’m deeply honored to be named an AAG Fellow,” Solís said. “To me, this recognition reflects the collective efforts of many collaborators, students and partners who believe in geography as a means of serving the public good. I see the distinction as both an acknowledgment of key milestones from my work and as a responsibility to continue advancing geography and supporting the community in ways that create meaningful social impact.”

The 2026 class of AAG Fellows will be formally recognized at the AAG Annual Meeting in San Francisco this spring.
