Inna Braverman - Founder and CEO of Eco Wave Power
2024 WE Empower UN SDG Challenge Finalist, Middle East and North Africa Region
Inna Braverman founded Eco Wave Power (EWP), a company dedicated to harnessing the power of ocean and sea waves to generate green electricity. Under her leadership as CEO, EWP developed a patented, cost-efficient technology that transforms marine wave energy into sustainable electricity. The company achieved significant milestones, including the installation of its first grid-connected wave energy array, securing a project pipeline of 404.7 MW, and listing on Nasdaq US under the symbol “WAVE.”
Innovative Technology
Inna Braverman’s commitment to clean energy is deeply personal, rooted in her life story. Born on April 11, 1986, in Ukraine, just 200 miles from Chernobyl, Braverman’s life was almost cut short by the catastrophic nuclear disaster that struck only two weeks after her birth. She suffered respiratory arrest due to the toxic air pollution but was miraculously saved by her mother, a nurse who performed timely mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. This second chance at life ignited Braverman’s mission to revolutionize clean energy.
EWP’s innovative technology utilizes floaters attached to existing marine structures to generate electricity, offering a quick and efficient way to convert unused infrastructure into green energy sources. This wave energy does not only have the potential to produce twice the amount of electricity the world currently generates but also to provide coastal populations with direct access to clean power, significantly reducing pollution and fostering local economic growth.
Commitment to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
Through its multifaceted approach, Eco Wave Power contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). By providing a reliable and scalable clean energy solution EWP is positioned to make a significant impact on global energy supply (SDG 13: Climate Action), reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support the development of sustainable and prosperous coastal communities worldwide (SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy).
Inna Braverman is also an advocate for gender equality in the energy sector. EWP promotes an inclusive workplace, ensuring that women hold key positions and make up 50% of its workforce (SDG 5: Gender Equality). Braverman mentors female interns from leading universities, helping to nurture the next generation of female entrepreneurs and innovators in clean energy.
Inna Braverman’s journey from a near-fatal encounter with pollution to becoming a leader in the clean energy revolution is a testament to her resilience and dedication. Her work not only advances technological innovation, but also fosters a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.
