The virtual and in-person meeting brought together leading Valley experts in cardiology and primary care for an in-depth discussion on the challenge of proactive screening and detection of cardiac amyloidosis. The debate centered around the question:
All Elderly (65+) Heart Failure Patients SHOULD/SHOULD NOT be Screened for Cardiac Amyloidosis
This event was sponsored by a grant from Arizona Biomedical Research Consortium.
The Institute for Future Health (IFH), a collaboration between Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, presents an event focused on cardiac amyloid, a rapidly emerging topic that intersects with cardiovascular, aging, and multi-specialty care. This condition requires new models of diagnosis, disease staging and therapy. The complex underlying molecular biology and multi-organ effects does not fit within traditional hospital departments, requiring integration of specialty expertise in cardiology, imaging, pathology, neurology, gastroenterology, interventional cardiology, and genetics.
