ASU
Center for Biodiversity Outcomes Founding Director
Leah Gerber was featured in an Arizona Republic article titled “
ASU scientist crusades for action to help environment”.
In the article, Gerber shares her insights on contributing to a recent
United Nations report – a global assessment of biodiversity and outlined actions to protect it.
The report shows that more species are faced with extinction than ever before, with over one million of eight million species expected to face extinction in the near future.
Although the UN report presents a grim warning, Gerber remains optimistic: “It’s a great reality check, but I hope it’s a motivation to say, ‘you still have a chance,’” she explains. “There are things we can do and we actually know what to do.”
